We recommend this plan for individuals who desire a pre-tax savings plan for contacts and eyeglasses and that do not have a medical flexible spending account. We also recommend this plan for individuals who have Blue Choice HMO medical coverage since this plan does not cover eye exams.

We advise reviewing your annual premiums versus expected expenses and reimbursements from Spectera to determine if this plan would provide a benefit to you. Some employees find that they fare better with a medical flexible spending account. This is particularly true of employees on the Board of Regents Indemnity, Board of Regents PPO and Kaiser HMO plans as they all offer an eye exam and discounts on glasses and contacts.
